In general, if you use your spa on a regular basis, you want to change the water every 2-3 months. However, there are a few different factors that affect how often you change the water in an inflatable hot tub. So, you may need to switch it more or less frequently.
1. First of all, if you don’t use it very often, you may not need to refill your tub as much. The same goes for if you enjoy your spa regularly, but only for short periods of time. For example, 15 minutes at the beginning or end of the day.
2. Second, if you have lots of people in the spa often, a large family with several kids, etc.., you may want to replace the water more often. You’ll notice when you need to change the hot tub water.
Note: If the water gets cloudy, foamy or has a strange odor, it’s time to put fresh water in the spa. Sometimes a dash of spa chemicals can resolve a minor water change, but other times it’s best to start fresh with new water.
On that note, you want to test the hot tub water routinely, like once a week. Then, add chemicals to maintain the right pH and chlorine levels. Doing this will help keep the water clean and clear, therefore extending the time between water changes.
How Often to Change Hot Tub Filters:
Just like changing the water, how often you change the filters will depend on frequency of use and activity in the spa. That said, manufacturers typically recommend rinsing or replacing filters every 2-4 weeks.
Note: Depending on your usage, check your filter every 2 to 4 weeks and rinse it thoroughly. Once it becomes discolored, it’s time to replace it with a new filter.
Filters can often last many months without replacement, and regular cleaning can actually help them last longer. Plus, cleaning the filter will prevent it from getting clogged with debris, which also can impact the effectiveness and longevity of the heating and filtration system.
